Driving cultural and behavioural change is never more difficult than in the largest department of the NSW Government where 800,000 futures are on the line.

In 2018, the Department embarked on a mission to transform the support services it provides to principals, teachers and schools at the front line of shaping our next generation of leaders and citizens.

A review of services involving input from more than 1,200 principals and 800 other stakeholders found schools needed more targeted and flexible professional learning, more intuitive systems and more tailorable support.

This required system change of significant scale; anchored with a clear reason for change.

H/Advisors APA worked with Education leaders to build a change communications strategy that put the primacy of 'better outcomes for students' at the centre of decision making. Over 2018 this in-system campaign empowered Educational Services teams to shift communication styles, build stronger relationships with school leaders, and to feel directly invested the service improvement programs.

The rollout of the system changes is an ongoing and interactive process; now supported by a dedicated delivery unit within the Department.
