BlueScope Steel

A government scientific inquiry into water use in the Southern Coalfields could have curtailed the essential supply of metallurgical coal needed to keep the Port Kembla Steelworks operational.

BlueScope engaged H/Advisors APA to assist it to engage with the NSW Government and communicate the critical importance of continued mining to the ongoing viability of its steelworks.

H/Advisors APA helped BlueScope in its campaign to engage with the inquiry. We assisted with submissions and organised and attended meetings with officials  - contributing to a government decision to continue coal mining and granting security around the supply of coking coal.

H/Advisors APA has supported the in-house team at BlueScope over a number of years including addressing a range of government relations challenges - manufacturing and industry policy, ensuring transport access, building energy security, developing suitable climate change policy and ensuring supply chain security.

Our support activities have included strategic counsel, preparation of submissions to parliamentary and other inquiries, as well as liaison with key Ministerial offices including assisting with facility tours.
